About FNA
First Night celebrations around the world are becoming more popular with each passing year. If you've never attended First Night Alexandria, you don't know what you're missing!
First Night is a celebration of the new year through the performing arts. Coffee shops, retail stores, office lobbies, museums and public buildings are turned into performance venues to showcase incredible local and regional talent. Recent performers at First Night Alexandria include clowns, face painters and magicians for children to a world-class Scottish fiddler, a Grammy-nominated rock and roll guitarist and a classical cellist for adults.
For a small fee for adults (children 12 and under are free), you have access to all the entertainment (in 2006 there were 64 performing acts on 43 stages - a total of 187 performances!) all evening! Free shuttle buses are available to performance venues all evening. Free parking is available if you brought your car. And we celebrate the dawning of a new year at midnight with a spectacular fireworks display!
It's all great fun, affordable, safe and venues are alcohol free. Make you plans now to join us for First Night Alexandria on December 31. We'll update this site frequently so come back and see all the plans as they come together!
