In-person Training. This year we are offering a one-hour opportunity to meet your fellow volunteers, find out about your responsibilities, and focus on how our operation works. This training will be held at American Legion Post 24 near Market Square in Old Town Alexandria. Specifically in the Ballroom up the steps at 400 Cameron Street at 10 a.m. on the day before New Year’s Eve, December 30, 2018. We hope to see you there!
Online Training. Online video training will be posted here after Christmas.
WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR:
Kids Karnivals. A New Year’s Eve celebration for families with children 12 and under! Three locations focused on kids for families with children 2-12 years old. Volunteers help with face painting, games, balloons, and more.
Sunday Badge Pickup. A new opportunity for our patrons to purchase and pick up First Night badges “ahead of the crowd” on the day before New Year’s Eve. If you have an iPad (or similar tablet) we could use your help on Sunday (12/30/18) early afternoon.
Due to a new badge design, the infamous Badge Assembly Team is retired. We still need help to sort and distribute the badges. If you are available we could use your help on the Sunday before New Year’s Eve (12/30/18) from Noon to 3 p.m. or on New Year’s Eve at Noon at Durant Arts Center (Volunteer HQ).
New Vests replace the aprons. This is a more usable design to identify our volunteers with thanks to Virginia Paving Company.
New Badge Pickup Locations to help distribute badges purchased online. Three “Badge Stations” will be located near the King Street Metro Station, on King Street between S. Patrick & S. Alfred Streets, and at Market Square. If you have some familiarity with the iPad (or similar tablet devices) and/or experience running a cash register, your help is needed here.
