This year we are offering a one-hour opportunity to meet your fellow volunteers, find out about your responsibilities, and focus on how our operation works. This training will be near Market Square in Old Town Alexandria at 10 a.m. on the day before New Year’s Eve, December 30, 2018. Specific location coming soon!
WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR:
Kids Karnivals. Three locations focused on kids for families with children 2-12 years old. Volunteers help with games and other activities.
Sunday Badge Pickup. A new opportunity for our patrons to purchase and pick up First Night badges “ahead of the crowd” on the day before New Year’s Eve. If you have an iPad (or similar tablet) we could use your help on Sunday (12/30/18) early afternoon.
Due to a new badge design, the infamous Badge Assembly Team is retired. We still need help to sort and distribute the badges. If you are available we could use your help on Sunday (12/30/18) early afternoon or on New Year’s Eve at Volunteer HQ.
New Vests replace the aprons. This is a more usable design to identify our volunteers with thanks to Virginia Paving Company.
New Badge Pickup Locations to help distribute badges purchased online. Four “Badge Stations” will be up from the Metro Station to lower King Street. If you have some familiarity with the iPad (or similar tablet devices) and/or experience running a cash register, your help is needed here.
